We have secured the expertise of Sheba Joseph, a specialist adviser to ensure that candidates from black or minority ethnic backgrounds have equal access in applying to initial teacher training.

Sheba leads MERIT, a dedicated service which aims to raise awareness of the opportunities available to black or minority ethnic candidates wishing to train as a teacher locally and to provide support mechanisms to guide them through the application and interview process.

Candidates can access support directly by contacting Sheba on 0191 433 8647 or emailing shebajoseph@gateshead.gov.uk
